  • Sundays at 10.00am at the Arts Tower

As with all our rides, double check on the XC Facebook group for exact details

We mainly ride locally within riding distance – from short rides of an hour or so to all day epics. We also do a few trips to various trail centres and natural mountain stuff, and also compete in BUCS XC as well as some Gravity Enduro events.

Local Riding

Peak District

There is an abundance of riding in the Peak, from easy to very hard and technical, it has it covered. You can get off-road in minutes from University Accommodation, and stay that way for miles and miles.

Grenoside and Wharncliffe

About a 30 minute ride from University Accommodation, Grenoside and Wharncliffe have a mix of routes from fairly tame up to fairly technical. Mainly flat routes in Grenoside, with some ‘official’ trails, and in Wharncliffe things tend to get a bit steeper.

Parkwood Springs

The newest Sheffield addition – a purpose-built 2km loop 10 minutes from Uni. Berms, jumps, rollers, it’s got it all. Fun for everyone.

Ruari descending Snowdon duncanphilpott.com

Our Freshers trip in early October takes us to Snowdonia to conquer Mt Snowdon. This is an epic day of riding – and was featured in Dirt Magazine last year. Borrow an issue of dirt 131 to have a read!

Day Trips

We try and run a group day trip a term to go to a local (ish) trail centres such as Llandegla,  Hamsterley, or some other exotic location. Makes a nice change of scenery and is subsidized by the club.

BUCS is an awesome event, that for the last two years has been held just outside of Sheffield so there isn’t really an excuse not to race! Anyone is welcome to race and it is a great introduction to XC racing.

Earn your Varsity points! We encourage EVERYONE to enter Varsity and ride for the Uni, something not offered in other sports clubs. It’s a great event to overtake some Hallam boys and check your fitness against your mates!

We hope to see you out with us soon!
