Here in Sheffield, we are fortunate enough to have some of Britain’s most spectacular roads and scenery right on our doorstep.
- Wednesday at 1:30 pm from the Arts Tower
- Saturdays at 9 am from the Arts Tower
- Additionally our members also often organise extra rides on the club Facebook group, which can be anything from a quick blast after lectures to a 100+ mile Sunday training ride.
As with all our rides, double check on the Road Facebook group for exact details.
The club caters for all abilities and genders, ranging from those brand new to road cycling through to seasoned semi-professional riders.
The Peak District
The majority of club rides take place in the Peak, with great views, big climbs and long descents there are few better places to ride in the UK. The city of Sheffield sits right on the edge of this national park and it takes less than fifteen minutes to get out into the countryside. There are famous climbs such as Winnats Pass and Curbar Edge (home of the BUCS Hill Climbs) within easy riding distance as well large parts of the route for Stage 2 of the 2014 Tour de France.
Flatter riding out east
If you fancy something a bit different there’s plenty of flat or rolling countryside to be found on the east side of Sheffield, and some quality chain gangs with even the odd pro rider attending.
We ride with the very best.
BUCS events give students the opportunity to represent their University and club against rival Universities and always provide a good mix of fun and competitiveness.
We take part in all 5 road BUCS events:
- 25 mile Time Trial
- 10 mile Time Trial
- Road Race
- Hill Climb
- 3-up Team TT
On top of this, we also do the BUCS cyclocross and we are building towards the BUCS Track event.
Varsity is our yearly chance to show Sheffield Hallam who’s best. Varsity events are always good fun and we encourage ALL members to get involved. They’re a great chance for people try out competitive cycling or test yourself against your mates.
Local races and TTs
We are affiliated to both British Cycling and the CTT and our members regularly take part in local time trails as well as British Cycling and TLI races.
We hope to see you out with us soon.
